Assistant principal of guidance

ASSISTANT PRINCIPAL - STUDENT GUIDANCE & SUPPORT SERVICES (HIGH SCHOOL)

Provides direction and leadership in one of the Student Centers which is responsible for the attendance, academic, and emotional well-being of about one half of the student population; provides direction for a comprehensive counseling program (academic, social emotional and college and career); coordinates such events as Back to School Night, Open House, Registration, and Orientation; plans, implements and monitors English Language Learner Plan, including monitoring, assessment, professional development, and accountability; assists with the implementation of a academic intervention and tutoring; provides leadership and coordination for the AVID program; provides leadership and coordination for the Early College Program; provides leadership for the Naviance Program; assists with the implementation of department Professional Learning Communities; responsible for the evaluation of assigned classified and certificated staff members; assists with supervision before, during and after school and at school events; assists with discipline as needed; other duties as assigned by the principal.

KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: Graduation from a recognized college or university with a master's level or higher degree; a valid California Administrative Services credential; a minimum of 3 years secondary-level teaching experience with leadership experience at site and/or district level (such as Assistant Principal, Department Chair, WASC Chair, SSC, ASB, etc.). Prior administrative experience preferred.

KNOWLEDGE OF: the concepts of restructuring, performance-based assessment, assessment, learning outcomes, interdisciplinary teaming, and school climate.

ABILITY TO: communicate the school mission and vision to the students, parents, staff and community; establish, communicate and monitor high standards for all students, staff, programs and services; communicate effectively both orally and in writing; apply keen organizational skills in order to plan, coordinate and implement the Monrovia High School vision of excellence; form positive connections with the community; and develop productive partnerships.

ENVIRONMENT: Office environment. Constant interruptions.
